CNM Academic Student Support Services Renovations

This project encompassed renovations at two CNM campuses: the Main Campus and the Montoya Campus. At the Main Campus, 6,100 square feet in the Student Services Center (SRC) was renovated, with work divided into four areas, including the Veteran’s Services Center and Testing on the first floor, and Student Life and a classroom on the second floor.
At the Montoya Campus, 7,815 square feet in G Building was transformed, converting a former bookstore and adjacent bookroom
into a dedicated testing facility, and adding new office spaces to support staff and faculty needs. The scope of work included selective demolition, new metal stud-framed walls with gypsum board finishes, painting, carpeting, vinyl flooring, polished concrete, updated signage, and upgrades to HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, special systems, and lighting.

Early Learning Center at Kaune

SDV Construction provided comprehensive interior and exterior upgrades to classrooms, restrooms, break room for child development area, and playground areas at the historic Early Learning Center at Kaune Campus. Work included asbestos abatement, demolition, construction, and finishes in classrooms. Improvements consisted of new carpet, paint, casework,
plumbing, lighting, and restroom buildouts. Site work included grading, drainage, concrete walk paths, fencing, rubber mat and wood mulch installation, and playground equipment setup.

Cathedral of Saint John

Built in 1950 and listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places in 2018. SDV provided construction services to renovate the second floor including a new coffee bar, Bishop’s office suite, restrooms, meeting room, and new lighting and HVAC. Other work included custom framing and installation of 200-year-old stained glass windows. While all of the work was interior, many of the new finishes and products selected were required to be similar in kind or likeness to existing interior building
elements.

Lobby Atrium Renovation

This project included complete renovation the lobby atrium, main entrance, guard station, and offices. The project included selective demolition, new flooring, paint and upgraded ceiling grid with LED light fixtures. A new suspended lighting feature and water feature were installed in the main lobby. The guard station was relocated nearer the main entrance and included controlled access, badge readers, and a turnstile.


The scope also included remodeling the stairs with glass panels and elevator shaft with new glass rails and finishes, a new corridor and exit door with ADA egress, and new electrical floor boxes throughout the lobby.

Secured Laboratory Addition

This project involves constructing two high-bay additions to an existing two-story building to expand laboratory space for equipment shipping, receiving, and staging. Located adjacent to existing high-bay labs, these additions consist of two shell spaces with independent steel frames and expansion joints connecting to the main structure. The north addition features interior partitions for an electrical room, while the rest of the areas in both additions remain open.

Structural work entailed drilling 25 piers at 42 feet, with rebar cages embedded in concrete bases. Both additions include 17- foot high-bay coiling doors. Extensive electrical and mechanical systems upgrades, and security enhancements include a turnstile, a pedestrian gate with badge readers, and a new 8-foot chain-link fence topped with barbed wire.

Santa Fe Children’s Museum

SDV Construction is honored to be chosen for the first phase renovation of the Children’s Backyard. The project includes a new music/pollinator garden, a loose parts play area, a new accessible primary loop path, new bathrooms, a new amphitheater, and a sand and water play area that reuses salvaged runnels from the original site. The overall design reflects the mission of the Museum to foster learning, creativity, and a sense of wonder through unstructured play.
